Jørgen Vig Knudstorp is the former CEO & President of the LEGO Group (2001-2016) and Executive Chair of the LEGO Brand Group (2017-2023). In 2024, he acted as a special partner to the LEGO Brand Owner Family, responsible for Business and Brand Development in KIRKBI, their family holding company’s leadership team. In 2025, Jørgen will resign from executive leadership to focus on his board and advisory roles. As such, he has the intention to step down from the boards of LEGO Group and Merlin Entertainment (operator of global visitor entertainment, including LEGOLAND Attractions) and relinquish all roles related to LEGO Brand and KIRKBI. He will remain a deputy chair of the LEGO Foundation, chair of KIRKBI Education (an investment holding company), and BrainPOP (a wholly owned subsidiary of KIRKBI Education).
In addition, he plays a leading role in the supervisory board of the executive business school IMD in Lausanne Switzerland, and in the board of directors of Starbucks Coffee in Seattle. Jørgen is also a Partner and Executive Advisor to the Palo Alto based firm, Innovation Endeavors. Jørgen’s work life prior to LEGO Group leadership was with McKinsey, before an academic career as a PhD in business and economics, which was following a couple of years of work as a kindergarten teacher. As such he has a lifelong passion for learning and seeing people grow through education, which continues in the years ahead. He resides in Denmark, where LEGO Group was founded in 1932. He is 55 years old, married and a parent of two girls and two boys, aged 17 to 23 years.
